We will be having a wonderful workshop this fall with Ray Bogle. He will be presenting a hands on Naked Raku workshop for our guild at his studio on Sunday, Oct 9, 2016. The weekend is Columbus weekend, so what a wonderful way to spend part of your holiday! There will be only ten spots available for the workshop, so as you can see, space is very limited. Paid up members will have first preference until Sept. 1, 2016, then a general announcement will be made to non members. Members will also receive a discount for the workshop.
You can bring 5-6 pieces. Folks are welcome to bring a couple of extras but can't guarantee they will fit in. Also, pieces should be taller than wider, with no large bowls/plates/platters as these eat up kiln space. And finally, pieces are best if they have little to no texture. Please click on the Naked Raku Preparation guide written by Ray Bogle for more complete information.
To prepare the pieces for the firing there will be a terra sigillata event coordinated by Renata Mastroti Kunkel on Tuesday Oct 4 at 7-9:00 pm. At the event participants will bring their leather hard pieces and terra sig will be provided. It will be an additional cost of $5.00 for the terra sig which also includes a bisque firing. You can opt to do the terra sig application and bisque firing on your own and not pay the additional $5.00. Soldate 60 can be purchased at MDHall for $17/bag or at Clayworks Supplies for $29 box (2 bags).
